You Me Bum Bum Train

I've been working on this show called You Me Bum Bum Train recently. It has been The Barbican's fastest selling show of the year, and I can see why. So can all the critics, seemingly, as it has received consistently rave reviews.

Here is what it is all about: You Me Bum Bum Train (www.bumbumtrain.co.uk) is an exhilarating, participatory adventure where audience members – ‘passengers’ journey alone through a maze of live scenes featuring over 200 performers. The shows unique format makes each individual passenger feel like the entire journey has been created especially for them. By becoming the star of each scenario, individuals are transported not only physically, but psychologically. Passengers are catapulted into unimaginable situations before being returned to the outside world, breathless, invigorated and left wanting more.

A couple of reviews:

If you come across any tickets, grab them and go and see it. If you want to perform, there are still opportunities to do so (get in contact with me if you are interested in being involved!).

Music makes the world go 'round

Music for the summer months:

Prince - 20TEN released on Saturday and given away free with the Daily Mirror. To say I'm excited is a wee bit of an understatement! Just wish I was seeing him play this summer!

Lissie- since seeing this gorgeous lady support Joshua Radin she has not been off my playlists. Her new album 'Catching a Tiger' is seriously addictive. Favourites on there are 'When I'm Alone', 'Record Collector' and 'Bully'. There are also a few tracks not on the album that are on her EP 'Why You Runnin'- worth checking out!

Allie Moss- One to watch. Saw her play with Ingrid Michaelson and been a big fan since. Her EP 'Passerby' is beautiful.

August 17- David Gray releases his new album 'Foundling'. Can't wait to hear what this is like as big fan of the last one 'Draw the Line' (especially 'Kathleen'- what a song?!). Such a treat to have another album from him so soon!

And Azure Ray finally release a new album on September 14th, 'Drawing Down the Moon'. One of my favourite bands of all time so I am counting down the days until I can get my hands on this.

Swanlights

This I cannot wait for. Antony and the Johnsons release their new album 'Swanlights' on October 11th. And it comes with a hardcover book of Antony's artwork. Antony describes his new work as "kind of sweeping and even a little psychedelic at times, a dream of nature as she lays dying”. His blending of art and music never ceases to amaze me. The beautiful intensity of his work is always emotionally captivating and consistently inspiring so I'm sure 'Swanlights' will be no different.

Track listing:

1 - Everything Is New
2 - The Great White Ocean
3 - Ghost
4 - I'm In Love
5 - Violetta
6 - Swanlights
7 - The Spirit Was Gone
8 - Thank You For Your Love
9 - Flétta
10 - Salt Silver Oxygen
11 - Christina's Farm

Geneva

The upside of my little trip was finding some lovely places to visit. Excenevex, where my friend lives, is about an hour away from Geneva airport (2 buses, or boats). So pretty, and a great place to go if you want a beach holiday somewhere quiet and not overly touristy.

Just down the road is Yvoire, a medieval village, rated one of the most beautiful in France. Only got to spend a couple of hours walking around here but definitely somewhere I'd go back and stay. A bit more touristy here but lots of cute kitsch shops and nice coffee places overlooking the lake.
